Learn How to Make Good Poker Bluffs

When to Bluff in Poker

Let's talk about bluffing – one of the most important and intriguing elements of poker. This episode of Everything Poker tells you why you should bluff, when to bluff, and how to do it.

You'll learn that bluffing helps you win more pots and confuse your opponents. But you have to pick the best spots to bluff. For example, bluffing is more likely to be effective when you're in a hand with a single opponent rather than several players. And a 'tight' opponent may be more susceptible to bluffs than a 'loose' opponent.

As always, this episode introduces some poker terminology. If you pull off a 'sick' bluff, your opponent might go on 'tilt'. That means you'll have a great opportunity to win more of their chips. Keep studying poker strategy and sharpening up your game, and you'll avoid being a 'fish'.

We'll see an example of a big bluff at the PokerStars Caribbean Adventure (PCA), and Daniel Negreanu will walk us through a sophisticated bluff by David 'Viffer' Peat in the PokerStars Big Game. This is followed by a segment on continuation betting – which is probably the most widely used type of bluff.

The episode wraps up with EPT champion Liv Boeree, historic Main Event winner Chris Moneymaker and other poker pros discussing their approaches to bluffing.
